The following statements are designed to outline the general functions and typical responsibility levels associated with positions in this classification. Under limited supervision, directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course and the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment.
· Participates in the planning and supervision of golf course maintenance.
· Assists in personnel management, risk management and evaluation, including the supervision of employees and the use of the equipment.
· Instructs, performs and supervises pesticide applications and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment.
· Keeps current with chemical labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Promotes and implements current safety practices that are outlined and instructed.
· Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state and federal regulations. Responsible for the safety and direction of chemical handlers and/or helpers.
· Performs routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment.
· Prepares clear and concise periodic reports for the Golf Course Superintendent and maintains accurate record of all chemical and fertilizer applications.
· Tracks chemical inventory.
· Performs related duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Required: None.
Experience:
Required: 12 months experience with turf management.
Certifications or Licenses:
· Ability to obtain a Category 3a Certified Applicator License from the OK Dept. of Agriculture, Food & Forestry within 6 months of hire date
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:· Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
· Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions
· Ability to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff
