Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Serves as the primary athletics health provider for assigned sport. Professional practice is under the medical-legal supervision of the head team physician and the administrative supervision of the head athletic trainer. Empowered, under these points of supervision, with unchallengeable authority to determine medical management and return to play of any ill or injured athlete.

  • Evaluates injury/illness, assessing acute conditions.
  • Manages injury/illness, implementing care and treatment plan.
  • Performs operative and non-operative rehabilitation.
  • Is present for organized/supervised practices and strength and conditioning.
  • Attends at home and away competitions.
  • Prevents injury, both athlete focused, and program focused with coaches.
  • Maintains athlete personal medical records.
  • Performs administrative tasks with professional medical staff, coaches, and compliance as warranted.
  • Performs related duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position. 


Minimum Requirements:

Education:

Required: Bachelor¿s degree.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 60 months of experience.

Experience:

Required: 12 months of certified athletic trainer experience.

Certifications or Licenses:

  • Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer
  • Licensed or able to get licensed per the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision
  • Current CPR/AED certification


Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff
  • Knowledge of athletic training techniques and their appropriate application
  • Skill set of manual and therapeutic modalities and evaluation of injury
  • Experience and abilities with a range of injury and illness
  • Proven record of implementing athlete treatment plans, safely and effectively



Working Conditions:

Physical:
Ability to engage in repetitive motions and communicate effectively.

Environmental:
Exposure to extreme temperature changes. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions including in the heat and cold.
