Job Duties:
I am looking for a responsible and caring student for part-time tutoring my 10 year old child who has special needs. My child has ADHD and high functioning ASD. He requires a lot of attention. He is very smart and talkative. He needs help while he is in music (violin) class at the OU campus in Norman, and sometimes he will need violin tutoring on Mondays at home (Close to E.Robinson St. and 24th Ave. in Norman) after school.
It is required to meet on Tuesday on time and communicate promptly with mother/guardians about the child’s needs or any concerns.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicant must:
• Be able to prompt him gently to pay attention and follow directions during his music class
- Get along with my child while encouraging safety in his surroundings
• Be responsible, flexible and energetic
• Experience working with children
• Have a clear criminal record check and 2 references
Preferred Qualifications:
Personality: kindness, tolerance, patience, knowledge or interest in special needs (such as Autism and ADHD).
Flexibility and creativity to speak with child with echolalia.
Lives in Norman.
Prior experience caring for children (personal, babysitting, or volunteer work); basic knowledge of children safety and developmental needs; reliability, punctuality, and good communication skills; Ability to commit to the agreed daytime schedule
Physical Requirements:
Be able to run if it is necessary.
Good judgment and critical reasoning to apply to situations during the child care time.
Quick reflexes
Healthy individual
Comfort with frequent standing, walking, ability to sit on the floor and get up easily to guide child.
Additional Comments:
Child has plenty of space at home. Student would guide him and give him attention as necessary.
Student would be looking after my child, so please leave phone or devices away.
A family member would be present meanwhile the tutor is with my child.
